Disclosure: funding and sorting

How PropCrab is funded, how links are labelled, and why commissions decide neither sorting nor content.

Draft, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.

This text follows the legal guardrails of our project plan but has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. Your purchase is always governed by the terms of the prop firm concerned.

Current status

We currently have no active partner agreement with any firm. Every link is a "direct link to the firm" to its regular website, and we receive nothing for any click or purchase.

This paragraph is generated from our firm data, not written by hand.

In short

PropCrab is funded by partner commissions. Commissions do not affect sorting or content. We also list firms we have no partner agreement with, on equal terms. Whether any partner agreements exist right now is stated at the top of this document; that paragraph is generated from our data, not written by hand.

How a commission arises

Many prop firms run partner programmes. When someone buys a challenge through a partner link or with a partner code, the firm usually pays the partner a share of the price, depending on the programme only for the first purchase or for later purchases too. The challenge does not cost you more as a result.

How to recognise advertising

  • At the button: a link to a firm we have a partner agreement with carries the label "Advertising · partner link" right at the button. Without an agreement it reads "Direct link to the firm".
  • For every firm: the comparison and the firm profile show a "Commission for PropCrab" line with yes or no.
  • For codes: a discount code is labelled either "Partner code, we receive a commission" or "the firm's public code". We only show codes with the final price, the source and — if the firm names one — the end date. We do not use countdowns or "today only".
  • On social media: posts with a partner link or paid collaboration carry the label "Ad" or the platform's paid-partnership label.

Next to every button that takes you to a firm there is a short risk line in the same font size.

How we sort

  • No overall score. We award no overall grade and no stars from third-party sources.
  • Sorting uses measurable metrics that you choose yourself, such as name, list price or cost per 1,000 of loss buffer. Which metrics exist and how they are calculated is explained on How we sort.
  • Commission is not a sorting parameter. It appears in no sort and no filter. Promotional prices are not either: sorting uses list prices. The one exception is the deals page: there you can order the promotions yourself by final price per 1,000 of loss buffer; the default is the date last confirmed.
  • Unknown never counts as 0. A value we could not confirm drops out of the sort instead of making a firm look "cheap" or "unlimited".
  • No paid placements. There are no paid ranking positions, no "Sponsored" or "Verified Partner" badges, no cashback and no points.

Whom we sign partner agreements with

A partner agreement is not a condition for being listed. Conversely, we only apply for an agreement with firms

  • that have no active regulator warning against them,
  • that publish their operating company,
  • that do not pay out in crypto only,
  • whose agreement contains no non-disparagement or review clause and confirms our editorial independence.

A firm on a regulator warning list is shown without a link button and marked. Closed or paused firms get no link either. The exception are lists that, according to the authority, concern only persons resident in a country PropCrab does not cover (such as the Reserve Bank of India's Alert List for persons resident in India): the firm keeps its link, and the entry is shown with this note on its profile and on the warning list.

User reviews

PropCrab publishes trader reviews by readers. We do not verify whether the author actually bought or used the firm's service; every review is labelled "Self-reported, not verified". What we do: a person reads every review before publication. Whoever submits confirms that they describe their own experience and received nothing in return, and must disclose any relationship with the firm. Limits per connection, a check for duplicate texts and the joint examination of bursts of submissions make orchestrated reviews harder.

We remove negative reviews only for legal reasons. Stars and summaries appear only from five approved reviews per firm and are built exclusively from those reviews of our own. Commissions and partner agreements have no influence on this; the review pages carry no partner links. We do not import ratings from Trustpilot, Discord or Reddit as numbers or stars.

Clicks

Every link that takes you to a firm goes through an internal path (/go/...). We count the click. Where a partner agreement provides for it, we pass on a random click identifier, through which the firm reports confirmed, cancelled or paid commissions to us. What is stored is set out in the privacy policy, section 6. Source references, next to single values as well as in source lists, and the pages checked for a data gap link straight to the evidence or the checked page; they are not counted and are never partner links.

Our interest, honestly

We have a commercial interest in you clicking a link and buying something. That is exactly why we show costs before discounts, a risk line next to every button that takes you to a firm, and firms without an agreement on equal terms. Still, do not trust any comparison site blindly: read the firm's own terms before you buy.
